Originally built in the 1950’s, the Lake Shore Motel aimed to give those traveling west along Route 66 a clean and comfortable place to relax and rest their head. Over 70 years later, not much has changed except the name and modifications to keep the rooms clean and updated. Now called the Best Budget Inn, owners Kevin and Paula Farmer hope to give present day travelers and route-goers a modern, yet nostalgic experience while still maintaining the motel’s original motto “Wonderful Rest in Cleanliness!”

Inside the rooms you’ll find some of the original pieces of the motel, such as the tile and chrome fixtures in the bathroom, as well as updated features like flat screen TVs and appliances for your convenience. You might also go for a swim in the original in-ground pool on a hot summer day, or enjoy the lake view from our pergolas. Whatever your reason for traveling, we hope you find yourself enjoying your time with us here at the Best Budget Inn for a quiet, clean, and comfortable blast-from-the-past experience.

Take advantage of our spacious parking lot and pull right up to your room, or ask us about parking for larger vehicles! The Flying W gas station is just across the street and a Dollar General sits within walking distance behind the motel, and downtown Carthage sits only a couple minutes away.
